Innitius is a spin-off of the Andalusian Health Service and the University of Granada. The startup was created in January 2018 as a result of the collaboration agreement between both entities to carry out a series of research projects that had been developing since 2009. In 2019, the company moved its headquarters to Bilbao, where is currently developing the Fine Birth.
Innitius is developing a medical device called Fine Birth. It is an in-vivo and non-invasive diagnostic technology capable of measuring the mechanical properties of the tissue of the cervix, specifically, the “shear modulus” (hereinafter “consistency”) to be able to accurately and efficiently differentiate the Real preterm births from false threats of preterm birth.
Currently, the company has a functional prototype validated in an experimental laboratory setting, as well as in a first sample of pregnant patients, and it is in a state of clinical validation. These trials will allow Innitius to obtain the necessary certifications to start the commercialization of the Fine Birth device, whose market entry is planned for mid-2022. At the same time, the company is working on additional applications of the technology, whose market entry is expected in the later years.
