Itsas Biodesign

An initiative to launch a new company to research, produce, and supply new fungal-based biomaterials to be integrated into personalised, low environmental-impact solutions for different applications: surfboards, packaging solutions, or construction insulators.
Itsas Biodesign develops biomaterials from formulas based on the use of local biomass waste produced by agricultural and agrofood activities (sub-products, substrates), integrating binding agents such as fungus mycelium.
The development of new biomaterials can be considered as an excellent alternative for obtaining renewable and biodegradable materials, with a high level of innovation and potential to inspire a new generation of products with their own characteristics, in addition to the possibility of substituting a large portion of the fossil fuel-based materials used today.
