Batteries are key in the transition towards emission neutrality. This is why companies offering services on the implementation of batteries in application are in high demand today. BatterieIngenieure South Europe S.L. (BI South Europe) was created in response to this market demand.
BI South Europe was founded in 2015 by the German company BatterieIngenieure GmbH (BI GmbH), a parent company based in Aachen (Germany) and a specialist in battery testing. The company is managed by specialists with more than 30 years of experience in this field. The company’s core business focuses on the testing of electrochemical storage systems of all types of technologies (at cell level and battery pack level), such as supercapacitors, lead-acid batteries or lithium-ion batteries. It also provides services in the development of battery pack system design, modelling and diagnostics. BI GmbH has one of the largest battery and cell testing facilities in Europe with more than 1600 circuits available.
BatterieIngeniuere South Europe S.L. focuses on providing services in the field of simulation and diagnostics of electrochemical storage systems due to the extensive experience of the management team in this field. These activities include:
- Simulations of the electrical-thermal behaviour of batteries using or developing from simple models based on equivalent circuits to more accurate models where not only the electro-thermal behaviour of the cell is reproduced but also the evolution of the internal parameters of the batteries.
- Implementations and development of control functions for battery optimisation and diagnostics in the application (functions such as state of charge identification, state of health identification, power prediction, etc.).
- Simulations and predictions of the useful life of batteries. Traditional methods based on semi-empirical models are applied, as well as more advanced methods based on artificial intelligence to predict the useful life of batteries in their applications.
- Consultancy services, mainly on issues related to the development and implementation of electrochemical storage systems at the cell level, as well as at the battery pack level (review of battery design concepts, review and study of safety standards, review of control function concepts, etc.).
