17 January, 2025On December 19th, the auditorium of the Bizkaia Science and Technology Park hosted the celebration of BIC Bizkaia's 10th anniversary.
The event was inaugurated by the Basque Government’s Minister of Industry, Energy Transition, and Sustainability, Mikel Jauregi, and closed by the General Deputy of Bizkaia, Elixabete Etxanobe. It was also attended by entrepreneurs, companies, representatives of public administrations, and entities linked to the region’s innovative ecosystem.
Ten Years of Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Since its establishment in 2014, BIC Bizkaia has served as the starting point for 65 innovative business projects that found the ideal environment in this incubator for their development and consolidation.
With 6,000 m² of facilities, the building boasts cleanrooms, laboratories equipped with advanced technology, prototyping workshops, and various shared spaces. Additionally, it frequently hosts networking events, training sessions, and project presentations.
The balance of these ten years highlights a significant contribution to Bizkaia’s business ecosystem, solidifying its position as a national and international benchmark for incubating technology companies.
Success Stories and Looking Ahead
Several companies that have been part of BIC Bizkaia participated in the commemorative event, including BatterieIngenieure South Europe, The Art of Discovery, Ultrasound-Innovation Medtech, and Zenialabs. Their testimonies emphasized the importance of the support received to transform their ideas into viable and successful business ventures.
During his address, Mikel Jauregi stated, “BIC Bizkaia is a success story based on interinstitutional collaboration, a key tool to support our entrepreneurs and startups on their path to excellence.” Meanwhile, Elixabete Etxanobe highlighted that “the commitment to innovation and technological entrepreneurship is fundamental to generating quality employment and added value in our region.”
A Future Full of Opportunities
BIC Bizkaia continues to establish itself as a key space for the development of innovative projects, attracting initiatives both locally and internationally. The commitment of the Basque Government, the Bizkaia Provincial Council, and Beaz remains steadfast in supporting the creation of new technology-based companies that contribute to Bizkaia’s sustainable economic growth.
